There is an error in \ubcd\tools\linux\ubcd2iso\ubcd2iso.sh. This has been fixed in V5.0.3.
-
pmagic\boot\grub4dos\grub4dos.lst has the wrong UBCD ISO filename. This has been fixed in V5.0.3.
-
ubcd\tools\linux\antivirus\clamav.sh no longer works correctly due to a change in URL. This has been fixed in V5.0.3.
-
mdiskchk.com from FreeDOS UBCD freezes on certain machines.
-
Rory mentioned in an email to me that on his Acer Aspire One, the keyboard gets disabled when the mouse driver on FreeDOS UBCD is loaded.
-
Icecube and sha0 discovered a possible eltorito.sys bug which might explain why BIOS-supported SATA CDROM drives aren't detected. They also found that grub4dos-mapped ISO images aren't detected by eltorito.sys (unless mapped to 0xFF).
Version 5.0.1
-
The disk image for Drive Fitness Test is for an older version (V4.15), and the disk image for IBM Feature Tool is wrong (DFT V4.16 instead). This has been fixed in V5.0.2.
-
The CAB file for Fujitsu Erase Utility (fjerase.cab) is missing. This has been fixed in V5.0.2.
-
FreeDOS UBCD only supports CAB archive format. It has been updated to support ZIP/7Z archive formats in V5.0.2.
Version 5.0.0
Version 4.1.0
-
The disk image for Drive Fitness Test has the wrong filename. It should be dft.igz instead of dft.img.gz. To rectify, patch your UBCD ISO image to V4.1.1 and above. Thanks to technician for reporting this.
-
There is an error in bootdsk1.cfg, where the filenames for LZ-DOS and FreeDOS are wrong. To rectify, patch your UBCD ISO image to V4.1.1 and above. Thanks to georgieboy for leading to this discovery.
Version 4.0
-
I accidentally packaged an older version of memdisk that is reported to cause problems when booting Ghost. To rectify, patch your UBCD ISO image to V4.0.1 and above. Thanks to amurphy7701 for reporting this.
-
If you try to update the F-Prot virus definition using ubcdvir, the RAM disk will run out of space. This has been fixed by editing \etc\autoset.bat in the various DOS images and increasing the default RAM disk size from 20MB to 30MB. You should patch your UBCD ISO image to V4.0.2 and above. Thanks to Constance for reporting this.
-
I have removed some unnecessary files under \dosapps\mcafee to increase the amount of free space available on the RAM disk so that ubcdvir can run successfully for McAfee Antivirus. To make this change, you should patch your UBCD ISO image to V4.0.3 and above. However, even with this patch, you may still run out of RAM disk space due to an anomaly on NAI's file server. We need a better solution to deal with the issue, but this patch is all we have in the mean time. Thanks to Constance again for highlighting the problem.
Version 3.4
-
Arachne boot disk should have been updated to V3.35. I should have updated the Arachne boot disk to V3.35 on Erwin's site, which contains Arachne V1.89. Instead, I left it at V3.31 (which contains Arachne V1.87). For those who wish to fix this, you must be able to follow the customization instructions to create your own UBCD ISO image. Simply download this patch file, then unzip and overwrite the existing content in UBCD V3.4. This will update the menu and disk image for Arachne. Thanks to Erwin Veermans for reporting this.
-
The launch commands for NWDSK and MSRRC are mixed up. When you press [F3] to launch NWDSK, it will launch MSRRC instead and vice versa. For those who wish to fix this, you must be able to follow the customization instructions to create your own UBCD ISO image. Simply download this patch file, then unzip and overwrite the existing content in UBCD V3.4. This will update the launch commands in the "DOS/Linux Boot Disks" menu. Thanks to kustner for reporting this.
-
DocMem should be launched with diskemu instead of memdisk to work properly. For those who wish to fix this, you must be able to follow the customization instructions to create your own UBCD ISO image. Simply download this patch file, then unzip and overwrite the existing content in UBCD V3.4. You must also delete images/docmem*.igz. Thanks to Older for reporting this.
-
Cannot get past DHCP screen for FreeDOS-based bootdisks. For more information and workaround, please refer to this forum thread.
-
Missing "-" before "o /ubcd34.iso" in mkubcd.sh. For those who wish to fix this, you must be able to follow the customization instructions to create your own UBCD ISO image. Simply download this patch file, then unzip and overwrite the existing content in UBCD V3.4. Thanks to xoff for reporting this.
Version 3.3
-
FileLink complains that it is unable to open T:\dosapps\filelink\FILELINK.CFG during setup. Here is the workaround. Thanks to MRT for reporting this.
-
WIPECMOS.COM is still found in UBCD V3.2 and V3.3. This is embarrassing. I was absolutely sure I have removed this file from V3.2 and up, but apparently it is still there, and I cannot find any valid reason to explain this oversight. My sincere apologies. Please remove wipecmos.com yourself (leaving wipecmos.exe) in the time being. I will definitely fix this in UBCD V3.4, or suffer the consequences.
Version 3.2
-
There is a link in docs/index.html that points to Freedos/diskman.dyndns.org/dm4/manual.aspx. It should be changed to point to Freedos/diskman.dyndns.org/dm4/manual.aspx.html. Thanks to Paul Haydock for reporting this.
-
The file macro.def is not updated in F-Prot. Thanks to Stefano for reporting this.
Version 3.1
-
There is a bug in the menu for "DOS/Linux Boot Disks". When MSRRC (aka the FreeDOS version of Bart's Network Boot Disk) was added, the remaining function keys were not incremented. The menu works - you just have to press a function key one greater than the listed function key for anything after MSRRC. Thanks to Tim Wegner for reporting this.
-
WipeCMOS is still flagged by Norton Antivirus as containing the HackTool virus. Although I have cloaked wipecmos.com with a COM packer to produce wipecmos.exe, I forgot to remove the original wipecmos.com! Arrrghh! My apologies. Please remove wipecmos.com yourself (leaving wipecmos.exe), or wait for V3.2. Thanks to JJJ for reporting this.
-
There is a bug in startup.bat for Partition Resizer. To fix, remove the last colon in %RAMDRV%: in line 2 of the file. Thanks to David Morse for reporting this.
-
Some of the links within the documentation for "INSERT for UBCD" do not work. For example: Knoppix, Customization and Persistence, Modules and, Cheatcodes. This will be fixed in the next release.
Version 3.0
-
WipeCMOS is flagged by Norton Antivirus as containing the HackTool virus. This has been verified to be a false alarm. For the next release, we will resolve this problem by cloaking wipecmos.com with a COM packer. Thanks to Yuval Melamed for the suggestion.
-
Partition Resizer's . Yup, I screwed up on this one, plus I forgot to update the virus definition files to the latest. This will be fixed in the next release. Thanks to various people for informing me about this.
-
Disk-based docs are missing from the right-click menu of INSERT. The paths to the disk-based docs are wrong. This will be fixed in the next release. Thanks to Ben King for reporting this.
-
There are bugs in startup.bat for Partition Resizer and TestDisk. To fix, replace r: by %RAMDRV%, and x: by %BCDW_CDROM%: within startup.bat for both apps. Thanks to Jan Stocker for reporting this.
-
The activation keys for QNX modem and network versions are swapped. To fix, swap the activation keys for these two boot images in others.scn. Thanks to Darren for reporting this.
-
The image file testdisk.igz in the images subdirectory is redundant i.e. not used. To fix, remove the file from the images subdirectory.
